Rafael Grigorian Ballet Theatre is a non-profit company dedicated to bringing classical ballet performances to the Southern Tier of New York State. The sole choreographer and artistic director is Rafael Grigorian whose wealth of knowledge and experience has built a successful ballet company.
His commitment to ballet instruction is based at the Rafael Grigorian School of Ballet. Students of the school are company dancers as well as local dancers that would like to audition. The company also has visiting professionals from around the country. The culture that the company provides for it's dancers as well as those in the audience is unsurpassed in the area!

Rafael Grigorian Ballet Theatre fulfills its mission by bringing a variety of quality ballet performances to Elmira and Binghamton. In addition to The Russian Nutcracker, within the last year, RGBT presented Cinderella and Cipollino, both family-friendly productions that pleased longtime ballet fans and young people alike. While RGBT succeeds in providing audiences with opportunities unavailable in communities of similar sizes, it is also an invaluable resource for local dancers to try a variety of challenging roles onstage. The experience that Southern Tier students gain in performing these roles helps them gain entrance to world-class ballet programs at the Kirov Academy of Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, and the Bolshoi Ballet Academy. Internationally-recognized dancer and choreographer Rafael Grigorian, along with the dancers and volunteers of RGBT, looks forward to many future seasons of dance excellence.

Promoting a Holiday Tradition.
RGBT, in its 21st year of presenting The Russian Nutcracker to audiences in Elmira and Binghamton, is pleased to be an integral part of the holiday season, with families returning every year to enjoy this heartwarming tradition. The much-loved story story of the Nutcracker provides an ideal means to introduce the public to the beauty and wonder of a ballet performance. Many students have been inspired by these performances to initiate serious ballet study of their own. Rafael Grigorian Ballet Theatre values the opportunity to promote the arts while encouraging young people to become more well-rounded by participating in dance education and performance.

RGBT is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors and relies on the families and friends of the Company for its financial support and production planning.
